West Coast Net

Founders of the Net

11/22/20

The net's first session was on September 2, 1958.

The stations that checked in the first night and were to be the charter members of the net were: K7AJT, VE7AOG, W7AYZ, W7BBT, K7DRZ, W7IEU, K7BUC, W7IRH, W7JIA, W7PWA, W7WZY, and KN7DKO. The second night W7PGY checked in. These were the charter members of the net.

I wondered where are they now? So I did a little looking.

I was surprised to find some still around.

K7AJT, Adam is on Vashon Island, the Puget Sound in Washington State.

VE7AOG, may be Don in Nanaimo, BC. I say maybe because the license may have been reissued.

W7AYX, is not in the QRZ database.

W7BBT, is not in the QRZ database.

K7DRZ, is not in the QRZ database.

W7IEU, Bob, Vashon Island, Washington.
Bob's call is now held by the son of our founding member. He said, on QRZ, that his dad was " a lifetime member of the ARRL. He was an avid CW operator and County Hunter. Active in nets and local emergency groups. Well respected in the community and on the bands. After retirement he aquired a real thirst for DX as well. The only thing that came before his love of Ham Radio, was his family."
Bob wrote "The Beginning of NSN" elsewhere on this site.

K7BUC is now held by a gentleman in Rimrock, AZ and is probably a subsequent holder of the call.

W7IRH, is not in the QRZ database.
